The death penalty is a draconian punishment with no place in our world. It is morally unjustifiable and all steps should be taken to ensure its abolition. Not only is murder as a form of punishment unethical, there is always the possibility that innocent people will be executed. No legal system is perfect and as such it is impossible to say that the use of the death penalty doesn't take the lives of innocent men and women. Not only does it affect the convict, it also leaves the family of the convict in grief and in the long run it can also cause grief to those involved in the execution process. Also, there is the possibility for abuse of the system for political or other reasons. The only time to take a life is if that person might kill an innocent person. Capital punishment is an unacceptable form of premeditated, state-sponsored murder.
