Guidance on the three written questions
1. 5 marks.
2. 10 marks for content + 5 marks for language. Total /15.
3. 8 marks for verbs + 12 marks for language + 10 marks for content. Total /30.
- The pictures are prompts so you don’t necessarily need the exact words for what is in the images, rather you need to READ THE INSTRUCTIONS and it tells you the topic – any 8 words related to this topic.
- They must be spelled correctly, including accents, to get the mark.
2. 10 marks for content + 5 marks for language. Total /15.
- This question is all about content. There will be a few bullet points with content that you MUST include, and then you get up to ten marks for any additional (but relevant) points you can add in. Do not include lists of more than three things as you don’t get credit if you do that.
- The five marks for language are generally fairly easy to get, so don’t spend ages working on making your language overly flowery – just try and keep it accurate.
3. 8 marks for verbs + 12 marks for language + 10 marks for content. Total /30.
- This question is the one where you need to show off! In order to get the full 8 marks for verbs you need to have 18 verbs correctly conjugated and not repeated. That is, you can repeat the verb but it cannot be in the same form, so both hablo and habla would count if correctly used in the given context. You should aim to have 25 different verbs in your text to guarantee the marks.
- In order to get 12 marks for language you need to use a range of different tenses, adjectives, adverbs and connectives. Avoid all repetition as far as possible. Can you make your sentence structure complex whilst maintaining a high level of accuracy?
- In order to get 10 marks for content you need to cover all of the bullet points without ambiguity, making five points in total that are relevant to the title.
- You choose one of the three questions to write about. The third of these is normally a story and it is normally best to steer clear of this one as creative writing typically results in less accuracy.
- You should aim to write about 160 words, but do NOT write much more than this as it won’t be counted if you do and your accuracy will likely decrease if you write too much.
